The brief
Each team had one weekend to make a game about space debris. The challenge was to understand a real research topic well enough to turn it into something other people could play and discuss.
Ten teams and around 60 students spent a weekend turning research on space debris into playable prototypes, with researchers and industry professionals on hand.

Students worked in mixed teams across development, game design, art, and audio. Researchers, educators, and industry professionals also took part, giving everyone a chance to exchange ideas across those fields.
Ten teams and around 60 students produced a set of very different games in one weekend. Each prototype offered its own way into the subject of space debris and gave participants something concrete to compare and debate.
The jam also brought students into direct contact with people working in games, education, and research. For Cats & Foxes, it was a chance to design the event, support the teams, and show how a scientific subject can become a creative brief.
